Teaching our little ones is one of the many responsibilities as a parent BUT I never signed up for homeschooling. Christian was attending Pre-k and Carter was in daycare full time before the pandemic. Since March we’ve had to get all of our learning done right here at home. I’d love to share tools that I’ve been able to use with all three kids during this time. In no way am I saying I’m a pro at homeschooling this has been what’s worked for our kids.

We don’t really restrict screen time in my home but we do try to show more educational based shows. In the morning while making breakfast I like to pull up ABC mouse on YouTube, the kids love dancing and singing along. On their tablets we also have the ABC mouse app. I love that ABC mouse has a learning path and offers assessments to see the child’s progress. The kids are learning while having fun. Carter also uses the app Speech Blubs which has helped him take words and turn them into sentences.
For more hands on activities I love getting Christian works books from the dollar tree. The My Big Activity Workbook is awesome for learning to write number and letters. After he practices we wipe clean for continued repetition. I allow Carter and Carmen to free style being that they are younger. Leap Frog 100 words book is great for Carmen. It’s great for helping with recognize: pets, animals, food, mealtime, colors, activities, opposites, and more. When touching the pages there are awesome sound effects.
Saving the best for last Teach My learning kits. I used this with Christian when he was 16 months old and I was highly impressed with his results. Here we are 4 years later and I purchased new sets to continue using them with Carmen and Carter. From letter recognition, to writing , for just 20 minutes each day.
