March 2019 I hit my first 1,000 followers and I was over the moon. I had no clue that I would be able to make a full time income off of my social media. Once I hit 1K and I seen the amount of money I could make I being to take my Instagram serious. I have had some amazing opportunities and met some amazing women while building my brand. As of today July 2020 I am sitting at 10.5k followers as of April 2020 I hit my second largest milestone. I wanted to share what I’ve learned while growing on Instagram.
When you hear others say that CONSISTENCY is key in growing they are not lying. From my experience consistency doesn’t mean that you have to post every single day but finding a schedule and sticking to it! Your audience will know that every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3pm you will have post and it gives them something to look forward to. Showing up in your stories. I feel like this allows your audience to know you more o a personal level rather than only seeing that “picture perfect” photo. Not only will your following understand you better but it also gives you a chance to learn your audience.
Instagram is a social platform and is intended for us to be social. You can not upload a photo and just leave it expecting the comments and likes to come. It’s so important that you engage on others photos by commenting and liking. Be sure to respond to all comments on your post. The bigger you get it may become harder but at the moment respond to all comments. This is KEY for your engagement.
Giveaways and follow loops are they really worth it? Again this is my personal experience and I have sponsored giveaways and I’ve participated in follow loops. I’ve seen growth from both but with the growth the followers also fall off. Not sure why people have such negative thoughts about the two but I say “DO YOU BOO!” Be yourself and focus on YOUR journey. It’s so easy to get caught up and compare your numbers, photos, and opportunities just know you are where you are for a reason. Lastly there is no magical number to be successful on Instagram. Yes, some brands focus on numbers and the others focus on CONSISTENCY and ENGAGEMENT.
I hope that this helps you on you Instagram journey. I will be doing a Instagram consistency for the month of August if you like to follow along reach out on my Insta.
Until next time!
